AAAM has launched a redesigned website with new functionality integrated into a modern association management system as the driving force behind it. Professionals can update their profiles, register for the Annual Scientific Conference, sign up for an AIS training course, or purchase publications directly on the website with immediate results.

In 2016, AAAM introduced the 2015 revision of the Abbreviated Injury Scale (AIS 2015) to the industry—available at the AAAM online book store.  AAAM continues to be the standard bearer for accurate and consistent traumatic injury classification and data recording.  The Abbreviated Injury Scale is integral to the study of trauma for injury surveillance and for analyzing the quality of trauma care as well as for research in occupational injuries for all modes of trauma.  AIS is the international standard enabling multi-country research and cooperation.  In coordination with the 2015 revision of AIS, AAAM developed two new training courses, a standard 2-day course for AIS 2015 training and for those have received training recently, an AIS 2015 Update Course.  Additionally, AIS 2015 included comprehensive mapping between AIS 2015 and AIS 2005 Update 2008 to enable users to integrate previous data with AIS 2015.  In a related but separate effort AAAM also created the first expert-based mapping between ICD-9-CM and ICD-10-CM and the AIS 2005 Update 2008 to assist analysts and researchers in assigning severity when only ICD data is available.

AAAM is working hard to be your advocate with public policy initiatives, continuing education, leadership opportunities, mentoring, networking events, publishing opportunities, industry recognition and the knowledge that through research and support, everyone involved with AAAM is a part of the effort to save lives and eliminate injuries associated with road traffic crashes.
