Conference FAQs

Objectives

Participants in this conference will be exposed to newest research in the following areas:

  • Analyzing and developing techniques to modify driver behavior to decrease crash incidence
  • Understanding kinematics and mechanisms of injury in crashes, with a goal of amelioration through engineering
  • Injury patterns associated with vehicular crashes, their classification, and clinical outcomes

Participants will be able to discuss and present to others (including fellow clinicians and interested others) current concepts in driver factors, including alcohol utilization, driving experience, distraction) and describe strategies for improvement. They will understand the role of human kinematics in vehicular crashes, and-using information presented at this conference-be able to suggest possible injuries associated with specific types of forces, restraint systems, and human characteristics, such as size and age. They will be able to consider goals for injury reduction.
