Introduction to AIS Course
AAAM is proud to offer the Introduction to AIS course! It is a self-directed course designed for beginners who have 6 months or less experience coding with AIS. It will cover basic anatomy, medical terminology and introduce coding rules and an overview of AIS. This IS NOT an equivalent course to what the American College of Surgeons requires. Taking this course does not replace the six (6) month minimum requirement in trauma coding prerequisite to take an AIS08, AIS15, or AIS15 Update course.
Duration: On demand available for one (1) month
Prerequisites: None
Audience: Beginners who have 6 months or less experience coding with AIS
Equipment Needs: Participants must have a webcam and microphone capabilities as active participation in discussion is required
Materials: All materials are available within the learning platform. NO AIS Dictionary will be distributed.
Facilitator: Self-directed course. AAAM Faculty available, via a webinar platform (for scheduled Q&A sessions only)
Cost: $350.00 USD per/person
*If your employer is paying for your registration, we encourage you to discuss payment or reimbursement options with your employer. We do not offer a waitlist for courses.

*Course logistics and materials are sent out 1-2 weeks prior to the start of the course. Course completion documents are sent out 1-3 weeks after the course has concluded (Upon successful completion).
Cancellation Policy
AAAM does NOT issue refunds for any of its courses. If you cancel before the beginning of the course or found ineligible, you can either:
- Transfer the registration to another eligible participant or
- Transfer the registration to another AAAM hosted course taking place within six (6) months of the original course date (Funds will be forfeited if unused within six (6) months of the original course start date)
* All transfers and cancellations will be assessed a one-hundred-dollar ($100) processing fee.
**AAAM will not accept any cancellations, transfers, or substitutions seven (7) days prior to the beginning of the course or after the course has begun.
