The The following committees are great ways for you to become more involved in AAAM.

Chair: Timothy L. Brown, PhD

The Scientific Program Committee (SPC) is responsible for the programming and abstract process of the Annual Scientific Conference. The SPC is an active committee working nearly all year on putting together vital research, papers, and presentations for the fall event. There are three subcommittees that work within the SPC: the Educational Program Subcommittee, the Annual Program Subcommittee, and the Student Program Subcommittee. Vice Chair: Derek Jones, PhD

The mission of the Education Program Subcommittee is to educate members and non-members outside of the annual scientific program on the science of automotive medicine.

The mission of the Annual Program Subcommittee is to produce the Annual Scientific Conference and the associated publications, ensuring quality through peer review best practices and consistency with the mission of AAAM.

The mission of the Student Program Subcommittee is to foster the incorporation of students and trainees into the scientific knowledge dissemination activities of the AAAM.

The Membership and Marketing Committee oversees the approval of membership applications, fosters enhanced engagement opportunities for members and enriches the membership experience by continually improving its benefits. Additionally, the committee is dedicated to promoting the organization and its core mission, ensuring growth and expansion efforts align with the integrity of the AAAM brand.

The Policy Committee aims to help AAAM establish and promote its public policy positions on key national and global road safety issues. AAAM’s current position statements can be found on our website.

The AIS (Abbreviated Injury Scale) Committee ensures the development and self-sustainability of one of AAAM´s most treasured and valued products: the AIS scale and its derivatives. In addition to the AIS Committee, there are two subcommittees: Content and Training & Certification.

Chair: Federico E. Vaca, MD, MPH

The Nominations and Awards Committee conducts the nominations and elections of the association, and annually reviews and recommends procedures for carrying out the annual election in accordance with the nominations and elections policies as adopted by the Board. The Committee shall also recommend the annual slate of award recipients to the Board of Directors for approval.

Chair: Richard J. Frampton, PhD

The Fellow Review Committee shall annually review and recommend up to two Fellows to the Board of Directors for approval.

Length of a Committee Term

Committee Member Term: 3 years with a maximum of 2 consecutive terms. Members can serve an unlimited number of terms but can serve no more than two consecutive terms.

Committee Chair Term: Chairs shall each have a three-year term, can serve an unlimited number of terms, but can serve no more than two consecutive terms. (With the exception of the SPC Subcommittees, each leadership role serves a one-year term).
