The Board of Directors would like to address the recent editorial published in Traffic Injury Prevention and the concerns it has raised within our community. Although Traffic Injury Prevention is an official journal of AAAM and includes its conference proceedings, and while we respect the editor’s right to share his perspective, AAAM does not necessarily endorse all the arguments presented therein.

This statement is the result of careful and transparent discussions among the AAAM Board and AAAM’s Scientific Program Committee leadership, informed by valuable member feedback. We want to assure our entire membership that we are an organization dedicated to advancing scientifically rigorous research, and we uphold the principles of academic freedom and open scholarly debate. We deeply appreciate the contributions of our members and all those involved in our Annual Conference. Please rest assured that we remain dedicated to advancing the science of automotive medicine and sharing research that supports our field. We will proceed as planned with the publication of our full papers in Traffic Injury Prevention in 2025, ensuring that our work and research speaks for itself.

AAAM members and affiliated institutions hold diverse perspectives but share a mission to eliminate road traffic injuries and deaths worldwide. Academic freedom thrives on this diversity of thought, and while disagreements may arise, they do not weaken our shared commitment to evidence-based research, meaningful discourse, and the pursuit of knowledge.
