AAAM Travel Awards
As part of AAAM’s commitment to scholarship, research, and fostering connections in the field of road safety, we are offering travel awards for the 2026 conference. Up to five travel awards will be offered to presenting authors to attend the 2026 Annual Conference to be held in La Ribera de Belén, Heredia, Costa Rica, from October 20–23, 2026.
*NEW IN 2026* LMIC Travel Stipend Criteria
Travel support is available for authors whose research has been accepted and invited for full paper, short communication and late-breaking presentation consideration at the AAAM 70th Annual Conference, to be held in La Ribera de Belén, Heredia, Costa Rica, October 20–23, 2026. To be eligible, recipients must currently reside in and travel to the conference from a Low- and Middle-Income Country (LMIC) as classified by the World Bank.
Stipend amounts of up to $1,000 USD per recipient are available. Actual stipend amounts will vary based on each applicant’s travel needs and financial burden, and funds are limited and distributed on a first come, first served basis. Final award amounts will be determined by the LMIC Special Interest Group Chair, in coordination with the AAAM office.
Funds will be provided via electronic transfer and reimbursed to the recipient following the conclusion of the conference. If for any reason, a recipient awarded a travel stipend is unable to travel to and present their research at the conference, the stipend will be forfeited.

This stipend cannot be rewarded in conjunction with any other funds, grants or awards offered by AAAM.
Student Travel Stipend Criteria
Travel support is available for student authors whose research has been accepted and invited for full paper or student symposium presentation consideration at the AAAM 70th Annual Conference, to be held in La Ribera de Belén, Heredia, Costa Rica, October 20–23, 2026. To be eligible, recipients must be currently enrolled as students at an accredited university and be no less than one year from degree completion.
Stipend amounts of up to $1,500 USD per recipient are available. Funds are limited and will be rewarded on a first-come, first-served basis. Final award amounts will be determined by the Student Program Subcommittee Chair, in coordination with the AAAM office.
Funds will be provided via electronic transfer and reimbursed to the recipient following the conclusion of the conference. If, for any reason, a recipient awarded a travel stipend is unable to travel to and present their research at the conference, the stipend will be forfeited.
All eligible recipients will be contacted by the AAAM office and provided details for the next steps to receive the funds.
