Motorcycle Safety 2026 Research Mini-Grant

AAAM’s Motorcycle Safety Special Interest Group announces a $5,000 (USD) mini-grant for 2026 research projects

Criteria

The grant’s purpose is to support research on motorcyclists’ safety via real-world data collection in Low—and Middle-Income Countries (LMIC). AAAM is a multidisciplinary community; we are looking for and strongly encourage collaborations and interdisciplinary submissions.

The collected dataset should be made available with the support of AAAM. The target is to present the project at the 2026 AAAM Annual Conference in Costa Rica (e.g., short communication or poster presentation).

Research activities will be conducted from January to October 2026.

This is a call for group members to submit project proposals.

A $5,000 grant will be awarded to the chosen proposal to support research on motorcycle safety.

Format:

Project proposals should be no longer than three (3) pages (including pictures and/or figures) and typewritten in Calibri 11 pt font in PDF or DOC format.

Who Should Apply:

Any researcher with their teams (we strongly encourage collaborations and interdisciplinary submissions) conducting work in the research realm of motorcycle safety.

All proposals are due by November 23rd at 11:59 p.m. CT.

Evaluation of the Proposals:

Reviews will be conducted between in December 2025 by dedicated committee members of AAAM’s Motorcyclists’ Safety Special Interest Group – MS SIG.

The winning proposal will be notified and announced no later than January 6th, 2026, with the expectation of beginning research in January 2026.
