Short Communication Template & Guidelines
- Guidance: The short communication format is recommended for scholarly academic research which may be preliminary or brief in nature, such as pilot studies. The work should be scientifically rigorous, use well-defined methods and analyses, and include original data for analyses, even if preliminary. The work will undergo review by the Scientific Program Committee and the authors will receive one round of feedback on their submissions, similar to a peer-review.
- Mechanism: Accepted short communication documents will be available to conference attendees and will be posted on the members-only section of the AAAM website. Authors will present their work at the podium during the conference. Accepted short communications will no longer be published in the AAAM Special Issue of Traffic Injury Prevention (TIP). Authors will retain all rights to the work, including the right to publish the work in the future in the journal/outlet of their choice.
- Instructions: Use the required template to develop your Short Communication and submit the completed document for review by April 12, 2025.
Poster Abstracts
- Guidance: The poster format is recommended for work which is exploratory in nature, including works-in-progress, or work which might spur further investigation in adjacent areas. This format may be beneficial for authors or emerging scholars who are interested in discussing their work with attendees, receiving feedback on planned methods, and generating new ideas.
- Mechanism: Accepted posters will be on display during the conference and the abstracts will be posted on the members-only section of the AAAM website. Authors will present their work during the poster session of the conference, tentatively including a brief podium introduction and extended time for attendees to discuss with the authors at their poster. Accepted posters will no longer be published in the AAAM Special Issue of Traffic Injury Prevention (TIP). Authors will retain all rights to the work, including the right to publish the work in the future in the journal/outlet of their choice.
- Instructions: Use the required template to develop your poster abstract and submit for review by April 12, 2025.
Late Breaking Oral-Only Presentations
- Guidance: Late breaking oral-only presentations are primarily intended for industry or government affiliated stakeholders. The presentations may be less data-focused and less academic in nature, and might explore broader topics in our field and/or future plans or strategies for advancement.
- Mechanism: Accepted late breaking oral-only abstracts will be available to conference attendees and will be posted on the members-only section of the AAAM website. Authors will present their work at the podium during the conference. Accepted works will not be associated with any publication or journal, authors will retain all rights to the work, including the right to publish the work in the future in the journal/outlet of their choice.
- Instructions: Use the required template to develop your late breaking oral-only abstract and submit for review by April 12, 2025.

Travel stipends and waived registration fee to the main conference are provided to support travel costs of students accepted to present at the student symposium.
- Mechanism: Accepted student symposium abstracts will be reviewed for inclusion but will not be available to conference attendees. Authors will present their work at the podium during the Student Symposium, which precedes the main conference. These works will not be associated with any publication or journal, authors will retain all rights to the work, including the right to publish the work in the future in the journal/outlet of their choice.
