We’re turning the spotlight to Dr. Mark Zonfrillo, a pediatric emergency medicine physician and member of AAAM since 2010. His journey to AAAM began with an encounter with Dr. Kristy Arbogast (immediate past Treasurer and Board Member), who introduced him to our organization. Dr. Zonfrillo notes, “I have been hooked ever since.” As a member of multiple professional organizations, he asserts, “AAAM is by far the most rewarding and fulfilling group for which I am a member. It has been an honor to serve on the Board of Directors, Executive Committee, AIS Committee, and AIS Certification Board since I joined the organization.”

With such significant experience with varying organizations, Dr. Zonfrillo’s impression of the organization is that “AAAM is vastly unique. Although it is a relatively small organization, I have been consistently impressed with its international membership and strong focus on road traffic safety. Never before have I been a part of such a diverse and intradisciplinary group including engineers, emergency medicine physicians, trauma surgeons, epidemiologists, and representatives from academia and industry.”

As a long time member, he wishes that “others knew how extremely impactful AAAM is as an organization. AAAM has had substantial influence on policy, regulation, and legislation throughout the world.”

Dr. Zonfrillo completed a residency in pediatrics and a fellowship in pediatric emergency medicine. In his free time, he loves to cook, and his family has participated in competitive BBQ competitions across the US!
