2024 was a strong year for our AAAM webinar series. We hosted seven online webinars, which were highly rated and, in some cases, reached up to 200 registrants. AAAM’s Scientific Program Committee’s Education Program Subcommittee hosted these interactive and educational events not just for members but for all those interested in automotive safety.

In January, we launched the year with “The Road Safety Experts’ Journey: Protecting Kids From Concept to Practice,” featuring a panel of automotive safety experts discussing the multifaceted world of child safety in the automotive industry.

The May webinar, “Autonomous Vehicles and Advanced Driver Assistance Systems: Safety Perspectives from Industry Experts,” delved into the transformative world of autonomous transportation, featuring distinguished safety experts from leading autonomous vehicle companies.

In July, we explored innovative training methods with “Unlocking Safety: The Power of Behavioral Skills Training for CPSTs to Reduce Car Seat Misuse,” focusing on the effectiveness of Behavioral Skills Training in addressing car seat misuse.

In August, we hosted “Building Trust in Autonomous Vehicle Safety: Key Lessons and Opportunities,” highlighting the importance of building public trust and fostering sustainable confidence in automation.

Furthermore, in line with the AAAM Strategic Plan to promote the inclusivity of all traffic safety experts globally, in 2024, the SPC spearheaded a mentoring series to provide tools to the AAAM community for preparing strong abstract submissions and robust presentations.

In March, we offered guidance on academic contributions with the webinar “Preparing a Strong Submission for an AAAM Short Communication, Poster, Late-Breaking Oral Presentation, or Student Paper,” providing valuable insights for researchers aiming to present their work effectively.

In June, we hosted “Understanding Accessibility: Practical Strategies for Inclusive Documents, Presentations, and Websites,” which provided tips on presenting at conferences that are inclusive to those with disabilities or language barriers. In October, the webinar “Preparing a Strong and Impactful AAAM Conference Presentation” concluded the year, offering strategies for delivering compelling presentations at AAAM’s conferences.
