Onsite and Dedicated Virtual Live Courses
Onsite courses and dedicated virtual live courses are held upon request from course sponsors based on proposed course dates and faculty availability.
All courses are $750.00 USD per/person unless otherwise noted.
Onsite and Dedicated Virtual Live Course FAQs
What is an onsite course?
Onsite courses are requested by a host or sponsor. These courses can be open to the public for registration or private and only available through the course sponsor. The course is conducted over two (2) days and facilitated in person by AAAM faculty. A minimum of fifteen (15) registrants are required to conduct an onsite course.
What are the responsibilities related to hosting a course?
The course host is responsible for providing the venue set up in classroom style with six (6) foot tables, two (2) people per table. They also provide a continental breakfast and lunch both days as well as providing the necessary AV equipment of projector, screen, and microphone.
What is a dedicated virtual live course?
This course is requested by a group, exclusively for their group (such as a healthcare system, regional trauma system, insurance company, research program, etc.) The courses are four-hour (4) sessions for four (4) days. Microphones and webcams are necessary for classroom discussions. The course is facilitated by AAAM faculty. A minimum of fifteen (15) registrants with a maximum of thirty (30).

How do I register for a course?
If the onsite or dedicated virtual live course is open to the public, registration will be available on the website. Click here to see courses that are currently available for registration.
Are online courses still available?
Yes, AAAM offers AIS15 as an online course every month. This course provides a structured agenda of self-study, homework assignments with deadlines and live classroom sessions which typically meet Mondays and Thursdays for four (4) weeks beginning the first Thursday of the month and run from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. CT.

Introduction to AIS course is designed for beginners who have 6 months or less experience coding with AIS. It will cover basic anatomy, medical terminology and introduce coding rules and an overview of AIS. This is NOT an equivalent course to what the American College of Surgeons requires.
Duration: Three (3) days, four (4) hours each
Class Hours: 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. Central Time Zone (unless otherwise noted)
Prerequisites:
- Beginners who have 6 months or less experience coding with AIS
Equipment Needs: Participants must have a webcam and microphone capabilities as active participation in discussion is required
Materials: All materials are available within the learning platform. NO AIS Dictionary will be distributed.
Facilitator: AAAM Faculty, via a webinar platform
Cost: $500.00 USD per/person
The February Introduction to AIS course will be held on February 6,7 & 10, 2023. from 1 p.m.-4 p.m. . CT. Full attendance at all sessions is mandatory. Registration for this course closes 1/30/23, NO exceptions.
The cost for this course is $500 USD, NO dictionary is included with the course. If you would like a dictionary, one can be purchased separately at the regular price (digital $225 USD or hardcopy $250) USD from the AAAM online store by clicking here.
*Please note: Taking this course does not replace the six (6) month minimum requirement in trauma coding prerequisite to take an AIS08, AIS15, or AIS15 Update course.

The AIS15 Update On-Demand course will be available for the duration of the entire month of December. This course is self-directed, you will be able to take the course at your own pace throughout the month. You will also have an opportunity to spend an hour with a faculty member (availability will be posted within the course learning platform) to have any questions answered. Registration for this course is limited to participants who previously successfully completed an AIS 2005/2008 Update course. This class is NOT for those who have already taken the AIS2015 Course. Course content will cover the differences between the AIS2005/2008 Update Dictionary and the AIS2015 Dictionary. Prior course participation will be verified from the class rosters held within the electronic registration system here at AAAM.
Duration: On demand available for one (1) month
Class Hours: No formal classroom sessions
Prerequisites:
- Must have successfully completed an AIS08 course
Equipment Needs: Participants must have a webcam and microphone capabilities as active participation in discussion is required
Materials: All materials are available within the learning platform. A digital copy of the AIS2015 Dictionary is provided. *If you prefer a hardcopy of the Dictionary, it can be purchased separately in the AAAM online store.
Facilitator: AAAM Faculty will be available on specified dates for a two (2) hour Q&A session to review any AIS15 Update content that was unclear during the on-demand learning period
Successful Completion: Must pass post-test with 70% or better
Cost: $380.00 USD per/person (Includes two (2) separate two (2) hour Q&A sessions with faculty based on posted availability)
The March AIS2015 Update On-Demand course will be held over the duration of March 1-31, 2023. Participants in the course must have webcam and microphone capabilities as active participation in discussions is required. The course is facilitated live by AAAM faculty via webinar. Completion of all course modules is mandatory. Registration for this course closes 2/8/23, NO exceptions.
The cost for this course is $380 USD, an AIS15 digital dictionary included with the course. If you would like a hardcopy dictionary it can be purchased separately at the regular price of $250 USD from the AAAM online store by clicking here.
